I guess my reasoning is the health and longevity thing.
I don't think lifting weights and all the standard gym stuff is necessarily the key to longevity and a healthy life into old age.
I think calisthenics is the more helpful approach.
However, weights and the gym are better than doing nothing, and if somebody has a passion for it and the drive to do it then that's great.
