She's definitely not joking... it probably did blow the fuck up in those 110 degree temps. But Johnny knew it was on its way out anyways. He probably figured it had a little more juice left in it if he decided to let her drive it though. My guess is he suspects she did something wrong behind the wheel.
I got the "old, extra car" vibe from it when I first saw her in it. He probably has more than one Audi.
