I was washing a few dishes a little while ago and this thread came to mind - more to the
point - children who suffer abuse. And I had a thought -- I wonder how things would change
for them if they were given the chance to kill their abuser(s) once they reach the age of 15?
That seems to be the time when they start putting things together in a more grown-up
kind of way while still young enough that they may not have acted out on the internal
horrors incited by the abuse. Obviously, it would be a lot more difficult a task for those
who suffered at the hand of family members - at least for some of them - but for those
who were hurt by "strangers" or at least people who weren't blood-related, I think it
would be less of a struggle to end them.
Somehow, I think killing those who did them great harm would act as a way of taking
their power back, possibly even rerouting their life trajectory. It wouldn't totally reverse
the damage or make it as though it never happened but I think it would go a long way
towards reintegrating their faculties and grant access to healing that would otherwise
be lost.
I'm not murder-happy, but I think most people can agree that there are individuals walking
around free, breathing clean air that shouldn't be. Especially those who prey on children
and animals. Just some dishwashing thoughts. : )
