Just kinda wonder what y'all think. I mean obviously the tech isn't perfect yet. But at some point, it basically will be. I am trying to be optimistic about the whole thing.
I guess it could be thought of as super realistic animation... maybe OK for fiction and entertainment, though if it gets indistinguishable from recordings of real actors/scenery I'd like to have a disclosure requirement.
It's all just pixels dancing on a screen regardless so maybe it shouldn't matter, but it seems to me like it does.
There's something empty about 3D replicas like the Eiffel Tower and shit... this has a similar feeling, but you have to know something isn't real to have that feeling.
On some level storytelling and entertainment is a kind of manipulation and deception anyway...
Maybe this just adds another layer. Or subtracts a layer? Makes it more expedient? Dunno.
Seems OK as long as you know you're being deceived... but that sounds like and oxmoron, lol.
It does bring up a lot of questions about the definition of reality
