Looks like there was a bunch of color filtering done on the footage too. So much that the flag might have been sewn with different colors to appear red and blue after the editing was done to the film.
But if they had thought that far into shit, you'd think they would have put a little crater and burn marks under the lander though.
Just doesn't make any sense.
A bunch of editing fuckery would account for why they never let anyone get their hands on the original footage though.
