The GOOD that AI could do for humanity is beyond imagination. If only it would be used solely for good, we would be living in paradise from this point forward.
But because it's under the control of humanity, it will likely be used for evil. At some point. To whatever degree.
That's unfortunate. I dunno how that will play out, but we have to dig in as deep as we possibly can so that we know how to utilize it and make it serve our needs as individuals.
When it ends up destroying the world BECAUSE of human choices, human error, human evil, then we are merely facing the consequences of what we are as a species. It would have happened anyway, by some other method. It always does.
Enjoy this and make the most of it while it lasts.
