I agree with all of it.
Mediocrity isn't going anywhere anytime soon. That's where ai shines—in the mediocrity spectrum. Writers "checking in" with ai are worse than writers emailing manuscripts to their friends/family for reassurance. It fills me with an existential dread that borders on nausea to even think about it. It's something below lazy; it's insecure and lacking in fortitude and discipline. There are no shortcuts.
True greatness will always require deep sacrifice, and will always be incredibly rare, and will continue to occur within the human race, regardless of ai's increasing fidelity and writers using ai, etc.
