I feel like he's the human version of a Ramones T-shirt that you can buy at the Gap or some shit. And it's not his fault. It's a case of the initial popularity being so great that it yields a kind of mainstream middling place in the zeitgeist.
Lyrically he's fairly fucking amazing. And his voice is ... absurd. Nothing like it before him, tons like him after (The Cult, Misfits/Danzig, etc.).
He doesn't really look human to me, especially when he's animated. Fuck the photographs. I'm talking video. Look at this. Is this just some dude?
He was so famous that we forgot about him.
