The general consensus today is that Kaori Sakamoto takes women's singles Olympic gold, and Yuma Kagiyama will take the gold for male's singles.
People don't seem convinced that Ilia is a clear curbstomp situation, which does make me kind of optimistic about Yuma's chances.
They think Ilia is still too rough around the edges. Not sure I agree, but I'd like to think there's a chance that Yuma could win. He's certainly my favorite, and I guess it's not too far fetched that he'd be a lot of other people's favorite too.
I just automatically assumed everyone was rooting for Ilia because his tactics are so... renegade, TBH. Maybe not though.
