They probably developed this autonomous drone decades ago.
They developed the SR-71 Blackbird in the 1960's and the F-117 Nighthawk in the 1970's.
There were also rumours abouth the "Aurora" hypersonic spyplane to replace the SR-71.
The "Aurora" could also be a single stage to orbit (SSTO) spaceplane.
So, the only major aircraft advancement in the year 2025 is an autonomous drone.
Imagine all the advanced projects they must be working on in those D.U.M.B.'s (Deep Underground Military Bases).
