teddy in his prime

So the guy goes, "For the record, you are guilty of killing many women and girls, is that correct?" Look at Ted's eyes when he's answering. What the actual fuck?? His eyes like roll around in his head and shit. I think he's thinking about his mom right there and what she's going to think about that admission. It's like he has to answer, but he's doing it through blinders and trying to 'hide' by blinking a lot.

So Ted starts talking about how "wonderful" his childhood home was and how "dedicated" his parents were, when we all know he grew up thinking his MOM was his SISTER, and that his GRANDPARENTS were his freaking mom and dad. He seems to go to a lot of trouble to make it clear that the problem WASN'T his 'home', had nothing to do with his 'home', and makes it clear that the porno mags he found in the woods were 'outside' of his 'home'. I think this is a deeply engrained issue in him that he probably never even confronted, especially considering he died the next day, just gonna go ahead and assume it's pretty unlikely he ever had time to connect those dots. He seems to be hiding even himself from the truth (in my opinion) that it was the severe psychological fuckery relating to his "SISTER" actually being his MOM (which he found out in high school) that actually started him down this bizarro path of violence. I'm not saying the porno mags didn't make some serious impression on him and give him 'inspiration' as far as what kind of demented sexual acts were possible but... the whole cause? Nah.

It seemed like he did make SOME kind of progress as a person during the time he served, but I can't really tell just what the hell it was.

It's interesting how he puts it all off on being 'possessed' and whatnot, almost again, to absolve himself of blame on some kind of level. I believe he was partly doing this for show, again, probably because of his mom. I'm not saying he's not being honest that that's how the experience was... I just think it's a little bit psychologically convenient to sum it up to being 'possessed' or some other terminology that denotes someone not being in control of their faculties.

3:42 so he does the nose touching thing again when he says "I wasn't a pervert"... that is definitely signaling lying in body language. He was definitely a pervert, and yeah, people CAN tell there's something wrong with you just by looking at you buddy. How fricken strange. It's also interesting to note how he's referring to himself in the past tense. So that could mean a few things... either he knew (obviously) that he was going to die and already considered himself dead. Or he felt that he was a different person than he used to be, or at least that he was trying hard to PORTRAY that he felt he was a different person than he used to be. Or that he was using that tense for the benefit of anyone who would see the interview, thus trying to influence their judgement of who he was. His eyes themselves though, and some of the shift movements they make in this video (like at 3:51) really do solidify in my opinion that he was exactly the same as he'd ever been, at least in all the sort of moral, truly inward ways of being that actually matter.

What's also interesting is that on some level, he does seem to be trying to paint a picture of what he sees as an 'issue' in the world, and on some level he IS trying to 'warn' people. That's exactly what he's trying to do. Perhaps that was his 'growth' as a person during his served time... more of a desire to kind of warn people about other fuckers out there who are like him. He did work a suicide hotline with a woman named Ann Rule who later wrote a book about him called "The Stranger Beside Me", and she said that Ted told her to lock her doors AS SOON as she got in her car/don't hang around with the car door open, etc.

4:14 yeah that is exactly what I thought... he's saying a lot of this stuff because he's trying to 'save' his family (mom) from further "shock and horror" upon him having to sit here and admit his guilt etc. Again, I am not saying these aren't his genuine thoughts. But there is dual purpose behind these statements he's made.

4:58 and here's the precise reason I can't hate on the guy, like 100% at least. Because he's demonizing the nasty perverted media who have been running Operation Degradation for DECADES in order to corrode the moral fabric of this country. I can't solid hate on anybody who raises this point because in my opinion it can't be overstated or called out enough.

5:07, okay, YOU DID NOT GROW UP IN A "REGULAR" FAMILY TED. For fuck's total sake. Again with this shit. Ted thought his MOTHER was his SISTER. He thought his GRANDPARENTS were his MOM and DAD. And nobody really even knows WHO knocked up his teenage mother either... it's even been speculated that her weird kinda violent/alcoholic dad knocked her up himself. Yeah. No shit. So don't be spouting that fucking load of bullshit talking about "growing up in a normal family". Rant off.

I still appreciate him demonizing these 'influences' though. It's a real problem, and I do feel like it's an honest rap from him. He means what he's saying.

7:33 so when this guy asks him what his life would have been like without the porno influence, he thinks about it briefly and then you can tell that either on a conscious or subconscious level he starts considering the OTHER reasons and influences which ACTUALLY caused him to be the way he was, or at least encouraged him to go down that path. And since he can't actually touch on those issues, his answer has to be formulated.

8:13 he accidentally says "evolved" instead of involved... let me think about what this means. Without knowing the true reasons, at least whatever he THOUGHT the true reasons were behind his behavior, it's kinda hard to know. Seems like more of a subconscious slip (as Freudians typically are) rather than anything conscious, so I doubt he even knows.

8:37 so the guy is asking him essentially if he feels remorse toward all the families etc. and you can tell by his face and subtle movements that actually, no. Just no. He doesn't fucking care. The nod/eye movements at specifically 8:44 100% gives it away. The way his hands are clasped also says "Dude, just STFU." Someone like Ted's mom would interpret that body language as "Please don't talk about it anymore, I just can't bear to think of it." Whereas I construe them as meaning, "Don't care about this topic, nails on a chalkboard, shut the fuck up, thanks."

8:50 he starts begrudgingly 'save face' style discussing how he's been talking (halfheartedly I can only assume) to investigators about murders so they can tie up loose ends or whatever. But no adequate progress was really made and he took his exit from this world with a bunch of details and secrets that obviously he's basically powerless to shed any light on at this point. I'll mention my channeling of Ted at this point because I think with that communication, the most important (albeit lackluster as far as any specific detail) point he made was something about bodies in caves. There is a desire on his end to give more details in order to 'lay to rest' these disturbed souls and families that were effected. Unfortunately... lil too late for that because he's DEAD. Even with the best channel in the world, it's fairly unlikely anything concrete could ever be communicated to actually lead anybody to any remains. I KNOW that was the point of his communication and unfortunately, what was relayed wasn't... at all helpful or definitive. I won't demean it entirely. I won't say it was disappointing. It's just that at this juncture, Ted is so fragmented and in the middle of dissipation that nothing of any real cohesive detail is likely to get across. That's his own damn fault. Instead of keeping it tight to his chest for the 10 years he was in prison, maybe he should have been giving details the entire time. Alas, he was evil and he wanted to keep it to himself, and now I think he's paying the price. Having said that, he is falling apart so rapidly that it's really... unfocused and just a continuation of the decay his life became once he was caught and then did his time.

Also I'd like to note how at 8:58 he touches his nose again upon the mention of 'unsolved cases' denoting that he is STILL lying, he was STILL holding back, and that's because he's fricken damn evil as all out absolute total fuck.

Having said all that, man, on the real... Ted was probably super drunk when he committed like basically all of those heinous acts. I wouldn't be surprised if it actually was cloudy in his mind in some aspects. That's something that should be considered, although it's not a dismissal. He could remember enough to help more than he decided to. It's an interesting point I'd never considered before watching this just now. It's like Ted's memory and essence in the afterlife is a weird drunken blur just like his life was when he was committing these atrocities. That's really kind of fascinating.

9:52 okay this is perhaps the most interesting part of all. Basically Ted cuts the crap right here and gets around to his ultimate point which is that there are people out there just like him and everyone needs to watch the fuck out. That's the crux of it. He also makes another very uncanny Freudian when he says, "There is loose ... people like me today." I think he even kind of realized the fuck up after he said it, but whatever. It basically indicates that he's exactly the same as he ever was, and if ANYTHING... on some levels he's even worse. Because he had time to think about it, he received punishment, he was faced with death... and he's STILL totally fucked up inside and he damn well knows it. And still on top of that, he's spinning more narrative and telling more lies in this very interview... the same, right to the grave.

10:26 he makes a great point, and he's being totally genuine and honest. He's saying even the violent and disturbing tripe on cable TV is bad enough to warp minds and set people off to become the kind of monsters who will behave in the same way he did. That's basically showing that he KNOWS about the evil that can be inherent in humanity... that it's there, it's underlying, and the best case scenario is that nothing ever happens (violent imagery, demented ideas, etc) to ROUSE it in people. He is basically saying this evil exists within him, he's well acquainted with it, he recognizes it in humanity as a whole, and it's OUT THERE right now, and the only hope is to not pour the fertilizer on it and bring it to life and make it grow.

He's right about this... he's 100% right about it and that's why I can't totally hate the guy. He did A COUPLE good things in his life. He warned people in a few useful ways. That's about it. That's about all that can be said for him.

12:09 so this guy keeps going on about how people are pissed at Ted for being a homicidal asshole, and then he goes for the water like, "Yup, I'm done. Good talk. Bye now." 12:12, ROFL... ah man. That expression, the nod. It would be unabashedly funny if he wasn't such a total monster. No fucks, he gives no fucks. Not at all. Good show there bud. Thanks for warning us about the porno and the violence in media... I totally appreciate it. His little dismissive statements about death at the end are totally priceless too... he doesn't care at all, he sees it as no big deal, and I really do think he figured he'd be right back as somebody else as soon as the ride was over. But I don't think that's what happened, at least not in the way he expected it to.
