A lot of technology is actually from stuff that you could have read about many years before it came out. CD's were like that. We learned about them in school many years before they ever came out.
When I was about 12, my little fat neighbor kid buddy told me about the plane that was invisible on radar that his dad was working on. He told me that it had radar absorbing paint and everything and this was in the mid seventies. No one had even remotely heard of that shit back then.... or at least it was not common knowledge.
