it is legit, but doing it properly is exceedingly difficult.
i remember when this stuff first started breaking on the net, i was able to look up my SSN on the exchange and saw it was valued in the billions. once the links started blooming everywhere, all the sites took down the ability to look up those financial notes... at least freely. it was still doable if you have the paid trading accounts.
it's one of the biggest open secrets. we don't actually have a country or a government. what we have are corporate entities. you can exclude yourself from these corporate based contracts, but then you cannot do business with any corporations involved in the UCC system. the UCC umbrella system drives all the way down to your local city. those signs you see on the highways - Anytown Corp Limit - the boundaries of that corporate entity.
