It's hard to understand why such a nice person with such a good heart (I mean it's plain to see) would have to go through such a bad experience.
I guess it was necessary for her development and her future to see that side of things. Maybe it will help her somewhere down the line to understand and help other people somehow.
Or maybe it's so she can give others with similar problems hope. To be a role model for outlook, courage and hope.
