Society fosters this environment where we don't know our neighbors anymore for whatever reason, whatever kind of distraction... keeps us all away from one another.
So as a result, kids grow up in abusive situations and it's never resolved because no one knows and therefore nothing is done.
Those kids grow up and have all kinds of terrible mental problems as a result of the abuse and neglect. They continue to gravitate toward abusive people and situations... and they end up like Nikko.
