I think people are going to back off consumerism, or divert it to a more wholistic way of doing things.

There's going to be a shift in awareness, as the big players definitively choose the path of evil and ruin. 'The people' will then pull a "Psych!" on the corps and their sellout will have all been for nothing.

I share your optimism at least somewhat. Depends on how successful or unsuccessful media is in diverting attention to other things.
