Well, I don't know that I'd describe it as pixels. It seems more like the optic nerves are being marginally stimulated. Like right at the threshold of on/off. Not enough to produce a picture, but not little enough to produce total blackness either.

When I think of pixels, I think of a definite image that's broken up into dots or something.
