Yes, ma'am. Old school BBS operators were called system operators, or sysops for short. That's actually a more apt term than Webmaster or Webmistress for your role.

In the BBS documentary I posted above, they talk about how the sysop was the coolest person on earth, whom everyone wanted to be like. The sysop was God to the other users.
