i feel like there is a lot to be said on the topic of addiction. i am a highly addictive personality type. some of my addictions have been negative, though some of them have also been positive. addiction is essentially the formation of neural pathways and chemical reactions. one can easily find themselves addicted to certain foods, again for the better or worse. an MSG addiction is certainly for the worse, and is one preyed upon by the corporations. an orange/strawberry addiction is extremely positive, as they contain vitamin C.
selfishness is a very necessary thing, but only when applied properly. one can be selfish in a way that prevents growth and harms the self, but one can also be selfless in a way that prevents growth and harms the self. it's all about moderation and balance. completely shunting oneself from enjoyable experiences dulls existence, but immersing oneself in enjoyable experiences will dull those over time as well.
like it or not, we are slaves to bodily functions. we are addicted to respiration and ingestion. we would die if we abstained. abstaining from enjoyable [and thus addictive] things puts one in a position to question if they are even really living at that point.

`and when you need something, that's a responsibility, that only an adult... of my maturity.... BUNNIES!`
