Brazil is 5 days into a nationwide strike and people are running out of fuel
"Here in Brazil we're in the middle of a national truck drivers' strike against the rising diesel prices, which is causing a shortage in gas, diesel and even ethanol . The cars still running are the ones that fueled 5 days ago. Planes don't have fuel , so flights were cancelled. Markets aren't being supplied too. Hospitals cancelled elective surgeries. I'm a physician and I need to ride 20 miles to my work, and I don't have enough gas for more than one commute. Unfortunately, ethanol is not an alternative because it depends on diesel ( at least right now ) to reach the pumps.
It's just in the middle of a crisis that we can really grasp the dimension of our dependency on oil. Every service/bussiness quality deteriorates in an interval of 2 or 3 days at max. Then people start to become angry when they lack these things they have for granted .Here, we are just a step away for a social chaos , so the government is trying to solve this situation as fast as possible. Until that happens, the only thing we can do is to store food and to wait for a solution.
Thank you guys for open people's eyes about that."
