Children's programing

As a parent to two little ones (a toddler and an infant) their time spent in front of the TV is very limited (not that they'd bother spending that much time in front of it anyway.) However, I'm curious as to what sort of "programming" is at hand here. Can someone provide some examples? This all seems arbitrary and merely anecdotal (it's not that I disbelieve what is being said here, I would just like some "proof" without being lumped in with "sheeple.")
