Imo, time as we experience it is illusionary. It simply can only be perceived by us as unfolding linearly while we are "awake" and taking in stimulus. I mean, that is what we are designed to do, to process environmental signals etc...When we dream, I feel we flip into a place where time is experienced as space is to us here while "awake". What I mean is we go into a place where time is 3 dimensional and we only experience space as a small vision in the mind's eye. We can control when we see, touch, realize things, we can control time as we can control what space we inhabit, for lack of the proper terms. I liken it to an hourglass, ye? we are the tiny condensed ring of hollow glass that the sand (time) must pass through. It does not matter which way we look its all real, you see? What changes is our perceptions of time, is it just a bunch of possibilities floating behind us waiting for each moment to be realized and experienced, or are we "sleeping" and staring into a sea of sand (time) wondering what grains of reality we are going to stitch together for our nighttime adventuring.
I will take it further and say we are traveling in time when we dream, some of our dreams come to be, yes? Some dreams are things we remember experiencing, yes?
Some never happen, ever and we chalk that up to fantasy but maybe that road was never chosen, cause even in dreams we are still the Observer, it still matters what we chose to believe
