i'm about 20 mins in and i love this guy. i fully agree that mushrooms are sentient, at least certain species. i've been in the presence of a colony from inoculation to fruiting, and i got increasingly strong ESP `pings` from them. i felt bad when i had to kill the colony. their fruit was delicious. their language sounds like this:
