Only come see me when they want money. I have mates the same thing. Its like a middle aged joke these days, so did ya talk to ya son? Yeah he said "HI" lmao
These days it just seems to be like this with older kids anyway. They have lost the respect thing we used to have for parents.
I remember when I was young, living far away from my Mum, every week like clock work she would ring me and we would talk for hours, never would I "GHOST" her because I love her and respect her.
Not like this anymore im afraid.
It's a shame, I agree that kids are losing their respect for their parents and families in general, and so true about the money thing.
The joke I've heard is that you don't hear from your kids unless they want something.
Kids just turn to their parents when they need support, but for the most part they are trying to find their independence and make their own way in life (at least that's the American/Western way).
In other cultures there is much more appreciation for family in general. At least in Hawaii, it is a very family-oriented culture, everyone in the extended family from distant aunties and cousins to whoever, all kind of stick together and spend time together.
That's one thing I think America has really gotten wrong. People are cut off from each other and increasingly more so with technology.
