You don't know this though no one does, its only an observation an assumption. People have many different personalites from one moment to the next, idiot is but one of them.
No one is the same all the time that is a Robot.
I have known people I thought were complete idiots, then utterly astounded me with something they said or did which completely destroyed my belief they were an idiot.
To let others make you an idiot is simply not setting the correct boundaries.
