So, there's this thing where we are sometimes drawn to the misfortune of others, -like watching a guy sleeping rough and pan-handling his way around the D.S.W. But that's not truly a misfortune, it's more of a challenge, or an adventure.
What REALLY gets my schadenfreude juices flowing is when you have an individual with so precious little going on in their lives that they are compelled to follow such an individual and give their constant disapproval. "YOU ARE IGNORING YOUR CHILDREN." "Zane is abusing animals." What are you doing with 'those drugs." "with that bum Cuervo" "Living in that stupid hole in the ground." etc. Seeing these Nannies show up in Zane's live chats is always a wonder to me. Like, "I'm gonna give this Zane Greene character a piece of my mind."
Of all the unfortunate Social Justice Ilk out there in these fast paced times, -can you IMAGINE just how precious little *that* dude has going into his cup of life?
Perhaps the only thing more pathetic, would be the person who flips the script, and mocks the people who sit in judgement of Zane!? Now THAT'S a DUDE who needs to get a life! ;>
If I'm sitting at my Mac for a couple hours a night, you can bet that a good hour of that time is dedicated to following interesting people on the internet, -I'm partial to kooks and freaks, but it's really about fascinating character studies, and I will be damned if I am not shocked to find people who eventually turn me around, and I start spotting little aspects of their personalities that I like, and I end up going from thinking that they are just awful Human beings, to slowly developing empathy for them. I think people will either get this or they won't but it really is true that pretty much everyone has at least a few redeeming characteristics. I like to find them. And sometimes it's damned hard. -When I find a character who is hate-able at first, and I eventually come to "like" them, I consider that a huge win... Not sure why, but I think it's because I'm a judgemental prick with very little regard for stupidity.
Zane drops some gems when he's narrating, and I get the impression that it's so off-handed that he doesn't he even realize that he just said something that was pithy or funny or smart. When he was riffing about coming up with all these elaborate dog-gang names , -This is the kind of shit that makes my soft-spot for Zane.
I gotta say, I think Zane would be as just as interesting if he was doing this shit from a normal couch, in a normal living room, working a normal job and having a normal life. And then I have to ask, -why doesn't he just live a normal life and I'm instantly transported back to the original issue of schadenfreude.
I don't cotton to all that PTSD shit. Blame everything on it and live a miserable life or just take some good acid and figure it out. That's what worked for me ;>
