Some type of government ops that are run out there in most of the desert states. Perhaps under the guise of "private industry".
Who knows what the hell they're up to.
Closest I ever got to figuring out just what the hell it is they do was in northwest Utah (Salt Lake Desert area) when I saw a huge escort of police and trucks (these black Chevy people are NOT police) guiding along the biggest... "SHOVEL" I've ever seen.
I can't even imagine a machine big enough to actually attach and move a "shovel" that massive. It was literally the size of a house.
Where they were taking it, what the hell it was, I have no idea... but all of the "construction" crew "working" on the road (they were solely there to keep an eye out for the movement of this object) were interesting too. I stopped by one of them and he was very... interested in what I was doing (I was just driving around to see what the hell was out there) and being very nice.
