Not always. I didn't learn to troll until I stumbled upon my first troll board. That was almost a decade after I first got on the Internet. It was lovey-dovey from 1994 to about 2003. For real.
Nowadays everybody and their dog is a troll. It's a hard habit to break when that's the dominant culture.
