One theory has it that the extremely wealthy have all the money they'll ever need, so now it's about power and control. They foresee the end of economic growth and are shifting focus to creating a feudalistic society where they can keep their position at the top.
That still doesn't make sense though because the typical investor isn't a mega-billionnaire and still expects to make money. And public companies are obligated by law to try to make a profit on the stockholders' behalf.
As far as there being a line, it's fuzzy. Public relations propaganda aside, a corporation's code of morality is based on whatever the law will allow. Which is arguably as it should be, since their purpose is to make a profit to the exclusion of all else. It's very hard to believe Visa or MasterCard would let social justice trump profit.
