Let's talk about like/dislike, star ratings, and other such bullshit.
I'm not inclined to implement it period unless it can be done in a fun and clever way. (Read on for more about that.)
If I were to do a voting system, there would have to be a dislike/downvote option (not just like/upvote as on Faecesbook), and the number of dislikes would have to be displayed alongside the number of likes. Fuck "muh endorphine rush." The only point I can see of having it in the first place is to honestly gauge audience reception.
Star ratings (number of stars out of 5) are somewhat less harsh, as someone giving something fewer stars doesn't necessarily mean they're poo-pooing it outright.
A fun system I saw on one custom board involves earning coins for posting. The coins can be spent to fling poo at someone's post if it's bad, give the poster a beer if it's good, or whatever. That would probably be the way I'd go if I were going to do any of it.
