I spent most of the day building a color scheme generator that outputs color triads (120 degrees apart), complimentary colors (180 degrees), compound (split complimentary) colors (150 degrees), analogous colors (30 degrees), and monochromatic ranges based on a given input color. Such groupings are known to work well together.

It should be close enough to the thing that Canadian guy did years ago. It generates enough colors to build a theme with contrasting fonts and backgrounds, and some lighting effects for buttons and 3D borders.
