The other thing I hate about practically all Web forum software is how the search engine is almost always useless. They all have this elaborate "advanced search" page with way too many options, and it still can't find something that Goolag can find in less than a second by typing "site:example.com whatever you're looking for".
It tries being all things to everyone, and ends up being nothing to nobody.
I don't want to have to check a dozen boxes to narrow the search down to the bits I'm interested in, so the mailboxes, alerts, and bookmarks will each have its own little search engine that has one job and does it well.
