Great video about surviving ELEs by going underground... tunnels, cave systems, mountain enclaves, purposely built underground bases, etc.
A few thoughts I've always had about this...
I wouldn't want to survive a deadly event just to live in darkness with a lack of food, fuck that.
I also think that particularly a solar event would not play out like it does in the movies. I don't think that solar ejections actually equate to fire on the earth unless there are man made electrical structures involved.
I think there's a good possibility that any solar ejection which interacts with the earth on that scale would probably be a lot like lightning, 'striking' here and there, rather than just being a blanket of fiery decimation.
