Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: Least intelligent person ever elected?
#84
To expand upon the IQ of the elected class, you’re going to see this same general development across racial class, perhaps across all SEC. For instance, black districts elect a Sheila Jackson Lee, or a Maxine Waters, i.e., women of mean intelligence, but they don’t elect someone like Ben Carson, renowned pediatric neurosurgeon, or Alan Keyes, former diplomat. It doesn’t matter how you slice it, people are unable to recognize extreme competence. They can recognize basic competence, or even basic advanced competence, but they can’t recognize the more extreme examples of intelligence. You could show someone a basic theorem from Calculus I, and you might as well be explaining the physics of the Saturn V rocket. Either one makes about as much sense to them.
