I've been using Brave for a few weeks since Mozilla and Google both banned Dissenter from their add-on stores. (I don't use Dissenter, but I hate fascist corporate censorship.)
I haven't seen a single ad since I've been using it. As with all browsers, I installed uBlock Origin and Privacy Badger immediately after installing Brave.
The only major drawback I've seen is that Brave tenaciously caches CSS and JavaScript files, which is a pain in the ass when you're developing and need to constantly refresh the page. I keep the settings tab open and automatically clear cached files before reloading now. I wish I could find this famous "developer mode" I keep hearing about. I think I saw a button for it once by chance, but I don't have a clue where it's hidden.
