In regards to the trust and residents paying rent for the common good: it certainly sounds awesome, but corruption and inefficiencies wouldn't be far behind. It's human nature to fuck up good things.
As a home owner, I also really hate the fact that I will never completely "own" my property. Don't pay those property taxes and suddenly you don't own shit. Luckily they aren't bad here, but they are totally out of line in others such as California and Texas.
