At this point, YouTube is clearly "phasing out" the community aspect of its site...

Here are the other threads I've made about the situation so far:

YouTube is purposely fucking up their comment notifications system because it is going to phase out the "Community" aspect of YouTube. In other words, it is selling out to become an internet television provider rather than the community that is based around YOUR videos that YOU share.

At this point, since they rolled out their new "Restricted Mode" version, many of the comments made in response to comments you leave on videos, and even comments on your own videos, no longer show up in the notifications either on the site or in email. Some comments still show up in notifications, and none of them show up in email.

The age of YouTube being a video sharing platform for the general public is over and done...

Time to move over to a viable alternative. I nominate http://vid.me. It's promising, has a good look and layout, and it's a super easygoing site. Get in early... go register and get your custom URL. YouTube is done, stick a fork in it, it's finished.

YouTube's new "advertiser friendly" policy is demonetizing videos for regular users (regardless of their popularity) left and right... they've effectively killed YouTube in favor of making it the internet's go-to site for TELEVISION.

Even that approach will not work out for them and YouTube will be but a shell of its former glory.

It's not good for regular uploaders, it's not good for TV shows, it's useless now. And they've taken this approach to their massive detriment, there is no repairing it in the future once a good alternative starts to catch on. They have cooked their goose.

Pewdiepie (YouTube's MOST SUBSCRIBED CHANNEL) is sanitized of all videos on Restricted Mode (the default mode for TV viewing).

The fact that they would throw their highest subscribed user under the bus that way PROVES their future vision for the site holds no place for community uploaders and no resemblance whatsoever to what YouTube was founded upon.

Not to mention YouTube is censoring and removing conservative content and what they deem as "fake news".

I think people have been talking about Dtube as a viable alternative, but I don't know much about it.

D.Tube has some problems, I found after using it...

Specifically...

(02-28-2018, 12:18 PM)Trix Wrote: I have been thinking about it and I can foresee some pretty serious issues with DT and the model of their site/system. Literally the entire concept is flawed, aside from getting paid per video via upvote. Every other aspect I can see some type of flaw in, ranging from minor to pretty fucking serious. As a result I believe I can say with certainty that DT is not the YouTube replacement. Unfortunately.

I mean from what I can see, there isn’t even a way to delete videos...

There’s no middle ground with this ‘blockchain’ model.

Unless you want everything you intentionally and unintentionally/accidentally upload to be on the net under your name forever, DT looks like the wrong site to use. I’m reluctant to upload anything else, and I’m a pretty shameless motherfucker.

You can’t delete your account or anything you upload to the blockchain...

And I’m sorry but that is just not gonna work.

It would be fine if there was some level of moderation, or you could make vids private...

It’s almost like DT (and any other site running on this model) was invented with the idea that the internet is some kind of troll free utopia and nobody ever makes mistakes or regrets uploading shit to the net.

Comments for example can’t be removed and they can’t be impacted at all unless you basically have a bot army downvoting shit.

So it’s basically a game of who is the loser with the biggest bot army and are they for you or against you.

It’s not conducive to a freedom based system even though that’s what it’s boasted to be at its core.

I’m smelling a rat with this shit in general... it’s fine as it concerns neutral things like currency.

But as a model for social (the very word implying feelings, trends, etc.) media sites...

Seems like a fail.

They don't let you delete anything? Well f that. That is not for the people.

I simply don't understand why viable alternatives to all the social media giants haven't popped up and succeeded by now with all the problems people are having with everything from Facebook to Twitter. I mean, in tech years, these companies should be obsolete ghost towns by now.

It seemed like Facebook took over the market share from Myspace in a matter of months, literally, it happened relatively fast. Granted they probably had help from the government, but still.

No need to reply to this, Fungus... I've long since forgivened you for having forsakened me. I'm going to sleep and your replies won't be approved for at least 9 hours...
