I traveled to Nepal seven years ago. I had been in Kathmandu about a week and having a good time seeing the sights an all. I was in my room and it was a Friday evening. I remember a voice in my head telling me I should go take some photos. I went out down the street, took a turn, went back down that way an shot some photos. I didn't realize I had left my flash on and thought to myself~ Dude, you really messed up~ I retraced my steps back to almost in front of my hotel when this fellow came up in the dark with a big kukuri knife and whacked me across my neck down to my chest. He just walked off without looking back. I stumbled into the lobby squirting blood everywhere while the guys ran out to get help. I had gone earlier that day to the place where they burn the bodies of those who had died, so I was thinking it was my turn. I remember them helping me into the cab and hauling ass through traffic arriving at the Norvic International Hospital. They took me into pre op where I thought for sure I was done with this life. There were lights spinning in the ceiling and this man walked into the room and said, "my name is Dr. Bhagwan an I went to university of Mass.~"They rolled me into the operating room an I woke the next morning in the ICU. I had lost 75%of my blood my blood pressure was 70/40 yet I am still alive. A person came forward with A- blood type and donated enough blood to save me. Later I found out the name bhagwan translates to "Lord or God" so I had dr. god. I wanted to meet him and he came round my room and I almost fell out of bed. This happened seven years ago an so much has happened but everyday I give thanks for being alive.
