The band actually has a sort of interesting story, to me at least. Maybe I'll discuss that later.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exile_(American_band)
Originally called "Jimmy Stokley and the Exiles", the band was formed in Richmond, Kentucky in 1963 while they were in high school.
Stokley left the band in 1979 and died in 1985 at the age of 41 due to alcoholism induced hepatitis.
Afterward, the band went country and they had some more hits in the '80s and '90s.

I remember that song being played on country stations a lot even though it wasn't the typical country style at the time.

Yep and I guess that's cuz of their future genre change. I'm glad they didn't just disband when Stokley left.

They actually do country music super well. I may be biased cuz they're from Kentucky, lol.

I'm biased towards Kentucky too, since you're from there.

We're keeping it on the "DOWN LOW" though.

Kind of OT but...
I've been in a goofy mood for a few days and it's really fun.
I think maybe it could be due to the uptick in solar activity.
CMEs can either make people feel all whack in a negative way, or have an effect similar to a full moon, all kinds of crazy behavior...
With the sun activity, it seems unhinged in a positive way rather than in the stereotypical mischievous/rowdy full moon kinda way.

IT'S OKAY, I DON'T THINK ANYBODY SAW US TALKING ABOUT BEING *SPECIAL* FRIENDS.

Even if they saw it, they probably didn't piece together the subtle clues.

Been playing this one on repeat for days...
This specific video/recording of the song is the best, I dunno what's the deal with the other ones uploaded on YouTube.
Haven't been listening to this one anymore but I just wanted to share a lil story...
I usually listen to these songs on my vintage stereo that only has mono.
So one night I played this video on my laptop and I was SHOCKED when the guitarist comes in at 0:38...
I was like WTF OMG NO MAKE IT STOP, rofl!!!
Isn't it kinda trippy how you always prefer whichever version of a song that you got used to first?

It's funny cuz every time I'd watch the video, I'd see the guitarist make the movement of playing that part, but I never heard him, so I thought he was just being cutesy... ROFL!?
Cuz these "Top of the Pops" type shows always made the performers lip synch and I thought he was just hamming it up, but he did it SOOO smoothly, I was like man, he really had me goin'...

This one is on repeat today.
That bassline slaps, and I love the melodies at the very end of the song, so gorgeous.

Doesn't that big Pioneer receiver have stereo sound? Or is one channel blown? A properly functioning receiver will mix the two channels in mono mode, so you should've been hearing the guitarist all along.

Actually had to render a version of that song today so it would play through on my mono stereo... the first like 30 seconds is silence on it, lmao.
I thought "Damn, I don't remember there being so much silence at the beginning of the song, like why would they leave that in and not edit it down?!"
So I was like, I'm editing that shit TODAY.
I get on my laptop and open the song in Reaper ready to cut out the inexplicable silence at the beginning only to find that it was just my stereo, lmao.
Reaper is such a great program. I split and L/R'd the split tracks then put it back together in a version that only plays on one channel, specially made for my mono stereo.
And Reaper is free too, which really boggles my mind. I feel like WavePad used to be free as well, but they're not anymore. Mega lame. I hope Reaper never decides to fuck us that way!

Oh nah, we've discussed this, one channel is blown.
Nothing I can do about it though, I'm just a girl with no skillz when it comes to analog dealios.
S'why I need a vintage analog man...
