Some quick thoughts on Hubei's party chief Jiang Chaoliang being replaced by Ying Yong, mayor of Shanghai.

Replacing a provincial level party chief, instead of the governor, is rare, esp b4 the crisis ends. Very rare and spks volumes of the crisis;

Many have noted both Ying Yong, Hubei's new party boss and Chen Yixin, dispatched from Beijing to co-lead Wuhan ground team, are Xi's proteges. But please also mind their extensive background in security. They are experts of maintaining stability;

They just announced Wang Zhonglin from Shandong will replace the current Wuhan party chief Ma Guoqiang. Wang, too, had been a police officer for 20 yrs.

Another one fell today: Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office Zhang Xiaoming has been replaced Xia Baolong. While the news might be much celebrated in HK. Plz be reminded of Xia's role in tearing down numerous crosses from Zhejiang's churches.

The reshuffles today might not be as jaw-dropping as the US's Halloween Massacre in 1975, but taking the China factor into consideration, we can at least call it the Valentines Massacre?

It sure is a bad time to be a Westerner living in any of these Asian countries...

It all came tumbling down pretty fast, and unless you were a woke son of a bitch, you wouldn't have seen in coming.

It's not realistic to think they should have all heard the warning bells and caught a flight back to the US, etc. when they had the chance.

I've been in Asia, wanting the fuck out and hoping to God I'd be able to get back home...

It's not a wonderful position to be in...

But the fact is, I did the smart thing and left as soon as I figured out the truth about those places (and their governments), and it didn't take me long.
