Film it and upload it to youtube, include your forum link in the description, and you'll get some folks.

This site existed with me basically alone for quite sometime until people found it...

A big part of that is writing posts which bring in traffic from search engines... that's why a forum or a blog built in is so important. Even if you're alone at first, if you write enough, people will find your site.

I know Dev already knows this but as someone who encourages each person to have their own site, I just think it's important to let everyone who might read this someday know you gotta stick with it if you open your own site. Do it for yourself so you're never disappointed. But if you want other people to be there, it's gonna take a lot of patience and some work.

You can go on for a long time and pay for a lot of hosting before anyone ever comes along. Just gotta be ready for that.

@Deva
I discovered MO in 2016 because somewhere on youtube she was indicating her lust for Alex Jones, and whether it was pho or legit, I thought it was weirdly adorable and strangely compelling, so I came to her channel and then went into a state of abject lust upon discovering videos of her wearing ripped up rock n' roll t-shirts, lacy pink panties and not much else. And then I found the infamous Rog video; that's when her overarching awesomeness slammed into my ass like the giant gloved fist of Galactus. And then I watched a video of her musing about life, the universe and everything, and that's when I fell in love with her. There was a tremendous amount of stimulation going on, all emanating from her: intellectual, spiritual, sexual, entertaining. She has one really massive thing going for her: Her.

This is relevant: after two months of being subscribed to her youtube channel, I built up the courage to start commenting on her videos, and she started responding (as she does to most of her commenters) and eventually indicated to me that she had a forum called Sectual, and invited me to check it out.

So: even though she radiates pure fucking gold all day long on multiple fronts, it took me two months to go from discovery to registering on her forum, and it might have never happened if I hadn't been invited.

Consider: often people don't like assuming that you'd want them to join. Take me, for instance. I have a weird blend of having a ridiculous amount of confidence in myself and an overbearing malaise of self-loathing. I think it's because I'm half Jewish and half British. I'm like James Bond meets Woody Allen. In classic me-form, after writing that I immediately felt two things simultaneously - 1) I'm selling myself short in that comparison and 2) I'm not fit to clean either of their shoes. Similarly, in the context of being a forum member, I think I'm (for sure) a quality member and contributor (when I'm not drinking), but my general working assumption is that one wouldn't be interested in having me join their forum.

To wit: I'm sure there are people out there that would be an awesome or even merely tolerable addition to your forum, but they'll never join unless you invite them.

You have strong/unique takes on matters of interest, informed by a solid base of knowledge and insight, which, based on my thus-far very limited experience of all things Devastatia, is where I think you shine, so there are people who will want to be a part of that, it's just a matter of time and you bothering to invite them.

That's my unsolicited TL;DR 2 cents.

I first encountered MO on VidMe. She had a video where she was sitting at a table with a bunch of crystals, pontificating about the meaning of life or something. I think the same video was on YouTube. To be honest, I thought she was high as a kite in that video. LOL

Anyway, I found her so compelling that I immediately joined Sectual as soon as I found out about it. We've had catfights and what-not over the past few years, but she remains my dearest and truest interwebz fren. Heart

Star Melter, if you're a halfway intelligent poster, we do want you to join. Smart and interesting posters are what makes it all worth the effort. I've seen too many sites dragged down to the lowest common denominator by fuckwits.

By the way, I got the HTTP to HTTPS redirect working. You can just type in the domain name and automagically get a secure connection.

That said, I do not recommend using any website for secure communications. Internet security has always been kind of a joke. The software on https://devastatia.com only encrypts passwords, and hasn't been subjected to a security audit.

Basically, if someone is link whoring their site, they want you to click it.
