Innate human depressive tendencies.

It's sad but it's the way of things.

I wonder if other animals struggle with those feelings?

I'm a cat person and I've had pet cats before who seemed kinda depressed sometimes.

Cats are some of the more emotional animals and they have facial expressions and whatnot, if they LOOKED depressed, I feel like they probably were.
