Images cast down in waning light take perch, only to be blazoned through time.
I desperately plead with myself to breathe as this atmospheric haze hovers over my head.
Too petrified to unfasten this door,
Through it’s gap I cross into the unknown.
Never straying too far away from this flame,
As winter approaches I know the embers will soon fade.
I hear the voices calling from afar,
Reminding me nothing will be the same again.
Without a hand to hold I proceed with caution, my gaze fixated over the edge at the brink of death.
