That's a medical condition that indicates long term lung and/or heart failure.

So, an update...

I would say I consider the situation about 90% corrected and on its way to being totally fine...

Yet, I don't know if it will ever be like it was before this incident.

There was a permanent change within the structure of the toe/toenail.

I am not gonna go into details...

But I will tell you something that you probably never knew, that you need to know...

DO NOT FUCKING EVERRRRRR FUCK WITH YOUR CUTICLES.

EVERRRRRRR.

Protect your fucking cuticles.

PROTECT THEM.

DO NOT injure your cuticles.
When chicks get fake nails, sometimes they 'push back' the cuticles...

Scrape them down or cut them off or whatever.

Well that can lead to paronychia.

And paronychia can be VERY FUCKING SERIOUS.

It ain't just the stereotypical pics you see of a red/inflamed cuticle region and a puss pocket...

It can be way, way more serious than that.

Cuticles play an extremely critical role in the nails/protecting you from bacteria etc.

DO NOT fuck with your cuticles.

And if they ever get injured somehow, take the UTMOST care in nursing them back to health.

If even ONE goes wrong, it can cause a widespread problem.
I've been 100% put off from doing ANYTHING to my toenails since this incident and how serious it was, the effects I observed... how long the process took. It took 5 months. Easy. Maybe even longer. I am not kidding.

I am not doing FUCKKKKK all to them, I don't do a fucking thing to them beside moisturize with some oil and apply lotion.

That's ALL I do.

I am never fucking with them again and I am just so fucking glad I never had to go to the doctor because they wouldn't have been able to help me anyway.

Let me tell you another thing...

"Oil of Oregano: If there was one thing I'd recommend for your medicine cabinet"

https://www.sectual.com/thread-16940.html

Oil of oregano is what TRULY saved my ass.

Read that thread and use with caution, but yeah.

Get some.
Foot soaks at least once a day in the hottest water you can stand, with some iodine, salt, or baking soda thrown in.

Apply oil of oregano afterwards.
But yeah, my issue actually had ZERO to do with how I was trimming the nails.

It was all about the cuticle.

Don't fucking touch 'em.
I couldn't figure what the fuck was going on at first and I thought it had to do with an ingrown toenail or somesuch...

But no.

After hours and hours and hours of research I finally realized this debacle was caused by an injured cuticle...

And I was shocked at how profound and serious the effect of a ruined cuticle was.

The cuticle is like an entirely different part of the body, it's not even really related to the nail. It's a webbing that grows in the area between your skin, and your nail.

If it gets damaged, the whole thing will disappear and it won't be able to grow back for MONTHS.

During which time if you don't take extreme care of the affected toe, you could be in a lot of danger.
The cuticle FORMS on the nail and connects to itself (if there's a cuticle root) to the skin and the area below the nail.

It doesn't COME UP from the bottom, it fucking forms from the nail surface.

You have to cut them flat across. I learned the hard way. Toenails are fucked up.

I just cut mine I think I need a chainsaw soon fuck they got long n hard dang so much toenail cheese too crazy shit hahahahahaha
A couple years ago or so I had an issue with my left middle finger.
It was a tiny sliver of fingernail left from cutting them and it was to the
side of the nail, down in the quick. I made the horrendous mistake of
pulling it out, it hurt. While I've done that millions of times before, this
time things got fucky.

It remained very sore for several days. Then, it got red. Then swollen.
It kept getting worse until the first joint of my left middle finger was
bigger than my thumb! That's when it started to scare me. So I began
doctoring it with coconut oil laced with tea tree oil and rubbing on
powdered turmeric. Wrapping that in a little gauze. It helped but didn't
go away. So I finally went to the doctor and got antibiotics. As much as
I hate to go that route, it did help and by the end of the week my finger
started to reduce in swelling and the pain slowly disappeared.

So yeah, be careful with ya nails!

You can die from infection from an ingrown nail.
I almost did once.
Okay so...

There's a forum with a thread about exactly what happened to me...

http://foot-health-forum.com/index.php?t...pain.83683

Thank. Fricking. GOD. For that fucking thread because it was LITERALLY THE ONLY place that I found ANY information about this.

TL;DR? Every doctor they went to was totally fucking clueless about what the fuck was going on. TOTALLY USELESS.

I haven't read though the thread in months obviously but the crux of it is that the cuticle gets damaged either by an injury to the toe or by a bad pedicure (in my case) where LIKE A FUCKING IDIOT you "push the cuticles back" (NEVER AGAIN).

I dunno if it was definitively stated on that thread enough that it is ALL ABOUT DAMAGE TO THE CUTICLE. That is the ABSOLUTE CAUSE. Period.

Toenail stopped growing? Cuticle disappeared? Pain around the cuticle area and sides of toenails? Redness? Mild swelling?

THAT'S WHAT IT FUCKING IS MAN.

DON'T DAMAGE YOUR CUTICLES, OMG DON'T DO IT.

It can probably happen on fingernails too, no idea.

It's basically like paronychia, sorta like a chronic version of it, only there really is no redness or puss that ever REALLY happens ON the cuticle area from my experience...

So it IS NOT "regular" (or chronic) paronychia, technically.

It's something else they don't even have a name for.

So what ultimately happens??

The old toenail STOPS GROWING, and a new toenail forms beneath it and eventually pushes the old one up as it grows over the course of 6 months or how ever long it takes for a toenail to grow out completely.

When the new nail starts forming and growing, a HUGE ridge will develop at the bottom there, and that's what was the bottom of the OLD toenail.

Now I don't have enough growth of this new toenail to tell you anything about thickness differences or anything else... but from what I've read?? Those new toenails are never as thick or strong as the old/original one used to be.

And in that thread, some people state that the new toenail will grow out, but eventually "the cycle repeats" and they go through this whole missing cuticle, old toenail death process AGAIN. Now, logically, I cannot see any reason this would happen if there wasn't repeated damage to the cuticle. I think they must be doing something to it, whatever caused it in the first place for them... they must be repeating that and not making the connection.

That's why I think it's so crucial that everyone know this is ALL ABOUT THE CUTICLE, and absolutely nothing else.
