I have a long history of using closed captioning.

Back in like 2004-ish when I still watched TV (classic TV show channels), I used closed captioning a lot.

Fact of the matter is, sometimes I can't understand what the fuck people are saying and keeping closed captioning on really helps me to understand better.

I just love being able to read the words on the screen because I love words.

I even watch YouTube videos with closed captioning sometimes...

It makes me sad panda when videos don't have any captions.

Even some of my own videos have closed captions and I watched one of them on mute with CC the other day, LMAO!

Sometimes you catch things you would have otherwise missed when you use closed captions... like quiet dialogue in the background and stuff like that.

I turn on CC on almost every single YouTube video and am legitimately disappointed when the button is greyed out and it's not an option.

I prefer voice-over translation on foreign dialog. I don't want to have to keep my eyes glued to the screen to follow along. I hate it when they use only on-screen translation.

The YouTube CC is typically auto-generated, and I find it so interesting which words it doesn't "hear" properly and generates inaccurately. I find it fascinating to study the rate of accuracy as it discerns different accents and speaking styles. It's usually pretty right on. I absolutely love it.

Not only do I use closed captions on EVERYTHING, whenever possible...

I also set the font size to EXTRA LARGE.

I love READING the show/movie, not just hearing it.

I feel that being able to read what is being said MAXIMIZES information absorption.
