Not only do the specific kinds of birds start singing at the same time, they also STOP singing at the same time. Certain birds sing at certain times of the day under certain conditions.

They can't be signalling to each other because they're all already singing THE SAME SONG.

my dad was an avid birdwatcher and used to say that the song of the birds is more intricate than any human language. i think there are subtle differences in their calls that are only noticeable to them. it sounds like the same song to us but to them it is very different.
