Did you buy a Key2 yet? I've been digging on Blackberry's idea of combining a keyboard with a touch screen too. Not too crazy about Android, but oh well.
Old school computer users have been saying for years that the QWERTY keyboard will never be replaced as the primary input device on computers. Oddly enough, this kind of phone was pretty common in the early days of smartphones, but disappeared from the market due to lack of sales. Thank the lamers for jerking themselves silly over the latest technical gimmicks while having no clue about real world usability.
This reviewer bemoans the lack of a capacitive touch keyboard on the LE model. He's missing the whole point of having a physical keyboard.
I considered getting a Key2... as you can see by my linked thread about the subject up there. But I didn't, and I likely won't. Reason being... I want physical keyboards to catch on as a mainstay rather than being some kind of novelty.
Some may say that is a ridiculous concept and it'll never happen, but I beg to differ. We're working on it.
Having said that, for me personally...
I am just not interested in doing any kind of serious work or communication on a tiny little fucking handheld device. The way I see it, mobile devices are for emergency checkins. They're not for any type of extended work whatsoever.
I refuse to use mobile devices for serious work because it's too cumbersome and I think it's suspicious that they've been peddled to the masses as the greatest thing ever...
It's hard to get FUCK ALL done on a damn handheld device. Writing or editing anything serious at length probably takes about 5 times longer than it would take on a laptop or a desktop. It's fucking ridiculous and I reject it.
I don't care about having a device with a physical keyboard... I don't even care about having a phone. I'll have a mobile device for on the go checkin and emergency purposes. But if I wanna do something besides fucking jerk off? I'm gonna be using a laptop at the very least.
Having a real keyboard would make texting a lot easier, even if you don't use it for serious work.

I cannot fathom ANY reason why an iPhone would be necessary.
The only Apple product I've ever bought was the 2009 iPod Nano. Not gonna lie, it's a truly great product that I use in my car every day.
I also think the Terminal program in OS X is the best command line interface ever. I'm not gonna shell out thousands of bucks for a Mac just to get it though. The bash shell in Debian is good enough.
iPod is a great classic product, it was brilliant and that's not really where the problem started.
Mac desktops and Macbooks are all fine... desktops, laptops, totally great.
But these fucking tinyass mobile devices are just fucking stupid.
As far as providing the ability to do actual work, um no.
It sucks that Apple stopped making iPods because they figured everyone will use their iPhone as a media player. Fortunately, Sony still makes the Walkman. It works like a normal USB storage device. (No iTunes required!)
