How had I never even heard of parboiled rice until recently??
I thought there was just white rice, or brown rice...
And you know, black rice and all that other kinda weird rice, but yeah...
Parboiled rice is the best, in my opinion.
It has a really good flavor and texture.

What I notice is...
White rice is for your asian dishes.
Parboiled is for mexican food and all that kinda stuff.

I just use white basmati for all my rice needs.
I try to not eat so much rice, potatoes or bread.
Makes me feel yucky.

Isn't parboiled rice just long grain white rice? Cooked halfway.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parboiled_rice
Quote:Parboiled rice (also called converted rice and easy-cook rice) is rice that has been partially boiled in the husk. The three basic steps of parboiling are soaking, steaming and drying. These steps make the rice easier to process by hand, while also boosting its nutritional profile, changing its texture, and making it more resistant to weevils.

By the strangest coincidence, I found a 10 pound bag of parboiled rice in some stuff my sister-in-law gave me.
It's as if MO says something and it comes to pass.
Anyway, now that I have the requisite materials to play along at home, tell us what you're making with it!

I had it with some sauteed chicken strips lastnight.
The night before that I had it with burritos.
So that's how I've determined what it goes with.
The next thing I have with it will probably just be beans.

Yeah, I was thinking I could put some in the chicken salad burritos.
I have so many of them damned chicken strips, I don't know what to do with them all. I've been mincing them and mixing them with canned cat food for Elvis and Audrey, just to get rid of them. It's a cheap way to make the cat food go further.
I was gonna chop them up in the food processor for the chicken salad, but now I'm thinking I'll boil them in bouillon solution until they shred, then mix the salad as usual.

Anybody NOT using stock, broth or some kind of flavor-infused liquid
to boil foods in instead of plain water just ain't livin' life right.

Parboiled rice is the best, in my opinion.

Parboiling is also actually necessary with some food as it's toxic without this process. So much food in the wild you can eat with parboiling but back to rice.
I like it sticky. Like you...
LOL. sorry. I'm not finished with my coffee and this is a lame excuse for laughing while trying to be cool when actually I've just made myself look like "one" of many.
Which is totally fine when you're actually "The One."
(one of many obviously a reference to those who've tried and didn't make the final...cut)

The chicken strips are precooked. They're firm and bland. I need them to shred easily for chicken salad. Giving them a little flavor doesn't hurt either.
