He used to cry a lot because he said he was "completely incapable of thinking"...
It seems those were the earlier years. He doesn't seem distressed at all now.
What the hell.
So...
Hmmm.
I gotta figure this out.

Consciousness...
In a damaged vessel.
But there's still the 'filter' of his original personality there.
He can't remember anything first hand. He knows facts, but can't actually recall the memory of events.
He lives in the moment. Not even the whole moment.
He makes diaries every day. What I wouldn't fucking give to get ahold of those fucking diaries.
18:46...
This might ACTUALLY be some of the most fascinating shit I've EVER seen.
"First consciousness"...
Wow.
"Awake the first time"...
Wow.
This...
Is...
Groundbreaking.

I really like his wife too...
She's fucking amazing.
Totally fucking amazing.
I think you should be the subject of a documentary ,couple guys just follow you around with ultra HD cams , we could watch you negotiate through all the tedious daily stuff ,going pee taking a shower having meltdowns .. 'dirty trix'

He wrote "Deborah for eternity" and "I do live!"
This shit is BLOWING my fucking mind.
This is a TRIP.
The doctors don't know why his "aggressive outbursts have progressively stopped".
Maybe it's the subconscious mind dealing with the new 'damaged' body paradigm.
This guy lives in a PERPETUAL discovery of BEING ALIVE... finding himself alive.
That way that we feel when we have those epiphanies of "WHAT THE FUCK IS LIFE?" ... perpetually.

She says he's "without consciousness"...
But I mean that's obviously not the case.
He's without conscious memory.
He's in the moment.
Maybe she's changed her outlook on it since 1988 when that clip was filmed.
So she divorced him in her 30s...
She thought having another relationship and having kids would help her.
She had bad taste in artist dudes and all her relationships were total failures.
She found that she was in love with him still. Basically. That's what she said. That she was really looking for him.
He says to her, "I'm awake! When are you coming? Come at the speed of light!"
DAFUQ.
Honestly.
This shit is mindboggling.
She couldn't let the guy go.
She went out trying to find someone else, "heal" herself.
But she was empty... without Clive.
So she decided to choose Clive.
That is some hardcore romantic shit, I can't even take it.
Can't. Even. Take it.

It kinda sounds like his wife lost her poor little mind, but whatever. This is still a super romantic story.
LOL he's critiquing the sound of the music in the church. He keeps talking about hearing music in the distance.
They keep telling him about how he's a conductor and he listens like "Wow, WTF, really, me?" and has no idea.
It's kind of amazing...
It's like he has this natural, innate understanding of music that is a constant in his expression.
What's the deal with 'hearing' the music in the distance though?
What does that mean?
Is that what it's like for musical people in general? But he's experiencing it in an actual auditory way because of the brain damage?
The music aspect of this story is pretty cool.
31:00...
LOL that was pretty funny. This guy is fuckin' awesome.
This guy and his wife make me not hate humanity.
You can tell while she's talking to him though that he forgets what the fuck she was talking to him about...
You can tell when it passes and he resets again.
Fascinating.

Dude this fucking guy has an AMAZING sense of humor.
He keeps saying, "I've never seen a human being before."
33:26... his daughter is all sad and wrong about shit. His kids seem to be pretty negatory about the whole situation. I really disagree with them, but I guess it's understandable that they're just epic hella butthurt about their dad basically being taken away from them.
His daughter says it must be like "hell" for him and that it must be "frightening".
Maybe it was at first, but I don't get that from him now at all...
I wonder if this all depends on peoples' mood and way of being on an individual basis.
I wonder if people who are positive and generally happy would experience it much like he does in the new parts of this documentary. And likewise, if people who are negative and typically in a shitty mental state would just continue on in that way, but like... brain damaged on top of that?

This is his explanation, and he's said this several times:
"No difference between day and night, no thoughts at all, no dreams. Precisely like death."
She asks him, "Is it very hard?"
"No. Exactly the same as being dead, which is not difficult is it? Dead is easy. You don't do anything at all. You can't do anything when you're dead."
She asks, "Do you miss your old life?"
"Yes. But I've never been conscious to think that. So I've never been bored or upset."
She asks, "What do you miss?"
"The fact that I was a musician. And in love."
