To my memory, I've never been able to get any of the pets I've ever had to make eye contact with me in a mirror.
I've never received personal validation that animals can actually see humans in mirrors the way we can see ourselves.
Maybe they see us in an auric kind of way that doesn't show up on mirrors?
Can anybody test this out and verify? Let me know if you do!

many times have i held up one of my kitties to a mirror and ask them who that cute kitty is?!? they aren't that interested in their own reflections but most of the time they'll look at me through the mirror and be like, the fuck is you doin? i have also noticed many times that, with a cat on the window sill with curtains behind it, if i peek my head in on the edge of the curtain they will look at me in the reflection of the glass, which is how i look at them.
with this in mind, and with the experiments that have shown that cats can decipher between its owner and a recording, that they are cognizant of us in reflections. cats are the greatest.

Not eye contact no I mean it looks like she is looking at me but is more dumfounded by other things.
Im almost certain she can not see me in the mirror at all. And maybe doesn't even see the mirror at all. Some animals may be able to but not dogs or cats.
Clearly birds can see their own reflection in the window glass as they attack it.

But then again why do only certain species of birds see their reflection and attack the window? Why are not all birds doing it all the time? Maybe its an individual thing? I think if you look up dogs barking at themselves in mirrors you may find some who can see their reflection. Vision tends to be a brain thing not just the physical eye, so it may be individual.

you can't really compare a wren or a finch to a parakeet , cockatoo, or falcon. the small birds are pretty dumb but the larger ones can be impressive.
i should also note there are humans on the planet that fail the mirror recognition test, or only pass it 5-6 years after most would. that spectrum of performance is in every type of being.

Well here its the mudlarks, kind of like a small magpie, they are known for it. Some of them attack the window, some actually try to fuck the window. Yes actually try to fuck their own reflection. I know some people like that.
But other species do it to randomly like Indian Minors. It seems to be where Sol is and the angle of reflection. But then could be an individual thing as well like a parasite in the brain.
I had a cockatoo and he didn't seem to give a shit about the mirror. I mean a mirror is just a peice of glass with silver behind it.

Thing is, I wasn't wearing my glasses so I'm not like 1000% sure the cat was looking me directly in the eyes but it looked like it from what I could tell, and it happened more than once too.

Don't doubt shit girl, but experiments need to be able to be reproduced.
